Acupuncture is a common form of alternative medicine that can be effective in easing aches and pains, reducing stress and anxiety, and so much more. The process is a safe form of alternative medicine that has been shown to have real results for most patients. The process involves readjusting your energy to maintain an overall balance in the systems of your body and uses the body’s natural healing response system and functions to restore balance and overall wellbeing.

Acupuncture is a holistic health approach to treatment. It is an ancient Chinese method that involves lightly pricking the skin or tissue with fine, sterile needles to alleviate pain and to treat a variety of physical, mental, and emotional conditions. Acupuncture has become an increasingly popular method to treat certain conditions and is now widely practiced all over the world as a form of alternative medicine.

How does accupunture work?
Acupuncture works by activating your body’s natural biological responses.

Depending on the condition that you wish to treat, Dr. Lisa will decide where the “acupuncture points” or “acupoints” will be located on the body. These acupoints send signals to your brain and activate a stimulation in the brain and promote natural self-healing.
The Ancient Chinese believed that the body had two opposing forces: known as yin and yang. Through this philosophy, they believed that if the body was balanced, it was healthy. Referring to energy as the word “qi” (pronounced chee), they also believed that there are pathways or meridians throughout the body that transfer energy from one point to another to maintain this balance.

Acupuncture was designed to maintain this energy and relieve the body from imbalance through stimulation. The fine, sterile needle will stimulate natural body functions and allow for the body’s natural healing response.

Through this, acupuncture has been found to improve sleep, digestive function, and overall sense of wellbeing.
